Completed in 1888 by Burnham & Root, The Rookery hides one of the city’s great surprises behind its fortress-like facade: a soaring light court capped by 5,000 panes of glass.

Frank Lloyd Wright renovated the lobby in 1905, and a careful 1992 restoration brought the whole building back to that exact vision.
