Kungsholm brought Swedish smorgasbord to Rush Street in 1937 — and, improbably, a full opera performed by hand-carved puppets in a dedicated miniature theater downstairs. The novelty made it one of the most talked-about restaurants in Chicago until it closed in 1971.
