Long before it hosted boxing cards and pro wrestling under the Marigold Gardens name, this Lakeview arena opened in 1896 as Bismarck Garden, a beer-garden dance hall with its own orchestra shell. It closed for good in 1964, but for decades it was where Chicagoans went to drink, dance, and later watch men throw each other around a ring.
